Pyrus sp. (flowering pear)

Also known as Callery pears, fruitless pear trees, ornamental pear trees. 

Flowering pears are easy to grown and care for, they do well in a wide variety of soils, and they put on a nice flower display in the spring. Flowering pear trees also display wonderful fall colors and shiny, green attractive leaves in spring and summer. Besides the obvious and beautiful flower display, these trees are often use for screening and shade. 

Pyrus calleryana 'Chanticleer' (Deciduous)

 

Description: Exquisite flowering tree displays a dazzling profusion of white flowers in early spring. Narrow, pyramidal form is coated with dark green summer foliage turning brilliant reddish purple in fall. Ideal specimen tree for areas with limited space. Suitable for street plantings. It is resistant to fireblight and much less susceptible to wind breakage than other varieties.

Pyrus f. 'Korean Sun' (Deciduous)

 

Description: Excellent fall color and compact size are key attributes of this selection. Although definitely a dwarf, this cultivar grows faster with better nursery characteristics than the parent species. Much hardier than Pyrus calleryana, it also has a smaller, more rounded and shrub-like head. This ornamental pear colors up a couple of weeks earlier in the fall to a lovely red-purple.
